Neurophysiology's Tough Mudder
This awesome team from Neurophysiology certainly earned every penny of their donations when they took on this gruelling Tough Mudder challenge almost two weeks ago! But despite the "Block Ness Monster", the "Kiss of Mud" and not forgetting "Electroshock Therapy", they completed the 10 mile course, still with smiles on their faces.. following our motto "You Smile, We Smile, They Smile"...
Sarah Tyson, Ben Ives, Becky Morrison and Kathryn Corbin made up the four strong team who tackled the 10 mile course in the beautiful countryside of Badminton, made all the more challenging by the series of obstacles they encountered along the way.
As well as working within the Wessex Neurological Centre themselves, they each have their own personal reasons for supporting Smile4Wessex:
"Having lost both my grandparents 11 years ago to Neurological disorders, one being a brain tumour, the other a stroke, it is an area that lies deep within my heart" (Sarah Tyson).
"My Mum had an Acute Subdural Haematoma (a bleed between the brain the and the skull) this year. She was rushed to Southampton A&E, scanned then taken to Neurosurgery. She received all her post surgical care on the Neurological wards. Like most patients she had excellent care, but noticed the Neurological center needed more funding" (Ben Ives).
Having witnessed both at work and in the care of important people in my life, the amazing work that the Neurological wards carry out, as well as the kindness and comptency of the staff, I am so happy to raise money to support them. (Becky Morrison).
My cousin suffered severe brain damage at birth and has needed life long support with her health and well being. The needs of those that suffer from neurological events or conditions extend beyond their initial hospital visit and diagnosis and raising money for Smile4Wessex means we can make a vital contribution towards keeping this care going. (Kathryn Corbin)
Congratulations to Sarah, Ben, Rebecca and Kathryn on such a fantastic personal achievement and a huge thank you for all your amazing fundraising!
