Ian Hoy's Great South Run

Ian Hoy's Great South Run

On the 16th October, Ian Hoy will be taking on the 2022 Great South Run in memory of his dear Nephew, Brett Harris, who recently passed away from a brain haemorrhage.

Ian will be joined on the start line by Brett's sisters Zoe and Bryony and together they will commence this epic 10 mile course around Portsmouth in aid of Smile4Wessex and the Wessex  Neurological Centre.

Ian shared the following about his Nephew;

Brett, or Berty as he was known, was an extremely hard working and loving father of two teenage boys. He was a proper football dad and could always be found at the sidelines, cheering them on. His zest for life was infectious with nothing too much trouble.

At the age of just 42, Brett contracted an infection, which subsequently turned to sepsis and caused a massive brain haemorrhage with complications, which tragically ended his life early.

Despite having so much more life to live, Brett's motto in life was "i'm here for a good time not a long time" and heartbreakingly it was certainly not long enough for all those who knew and loved him.
