On Sunday 19th October Megan Hall will be running the Great South Run in aid of Smile4Wessex.
In January 2017 Megan's Mum suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage from a ruptured aneurysm and was admitted to the Wessex Neurological Centre, where she spent three months, including time in the Neuro ICU unit. Megan has chosen to take on this challenge as a thank you for the care her mum received there.
"The care she received there was second to none, and she continues to receive exceptional follow-up care from the amazing team at Wessex. Thankfully, my Mum survived, but she has been left with disabilities and cognitive challenges. Mum started from scratch and had to learn to walk again and also learn to live a new way of life. The last 8 years have been incredibly tough. I am so grateful for the care provided by Wessex and want to give back in any way I can."
Megan will join 20,000 runners at the start line of the Great South Run on Clarence Esplanade in Southsea. The 10 mile route then winds through Old Portsmouth, before entering the Historic Dockyard (home of HMS Victory), past the Spinnaker Tower, before finishing on the seafront with beautiful views of the Isle of Wight.
