On Sunday 6th April Megan Eadon will be running the Brighton Marathon in aid of Smile4Wessex.

This will be the second time Megan has taken on this 26.2 mile challenge - the first time she ran it, she recalls her mum being so proud of her and a constant encouragement - However, in April Megan will run in memory of her dear mum who tragically passed away in June 2023 following an accident.

On race day, she tracked me the whole way and sent me messages over the hours of running. She was the first person I called after I collected my medal and she said she was proud of me and that I should go and get a beer and chips…so I did!  When I run this marathon there will be no mum to call me mad, or persuade me to have that extra glass of wine at dinner the night before a long training run or tell me she’s proud of me.

Following the accident, Megans mum, Michelle, was treated in the Neuro ICU at the Wessex Neurological Centre, where she underwent many scans, tests and two operations, but sadly died 8 days later. 

Megan has chosen to run in aid of Smile4Wessex as a thank you for the care and compassion shown towards her mum during this time.
