Thanks to the amazing generosity of our supporters, the appeal has now raised over two-thirds of our £150,000 target and, with our eyes firmly fixed on seeing the centre fully operational by the end of the year, I am delighted to reveal that work on Phase 1 of the development is now complete. Phase 1 comprises the new six-bed bay, relocated video-telemetry suite and single side room, and is providing a greatly improved environment for the many children needing the specialist care it provides. However, until Phase 2 is complete - which will provide new bathroom and wetroom facilities, ward kitchen, playroom, parents room and Sister's office - the new ward can only operate at 75% of the intended capacity.
Frustratingly, that means that two of the bed spaces provided are currently not in use. We hope to see work on Phase 2 commence soon, but are reliant on your continued support as we make the final push to complete the project and fulfil the dream of providing a world-class centre for the treatment of children with acute neurological conditions.
