Skydive with the Red Devils

Skydive with the Red Devils

Ever wondered what it's like to skydive from 13,000ft above the English countryside? Well here's your chance, and if you're going to jump out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft then who better to do it with than the world renowned Army Parachute Display Team, the Red Devils!

Experience the adrenaline rush of tandem skydiving with the best in the business! This exciting day will involve an introduction to the Red Devils Team followed by a thorough training session on the ground.

When you are fully briefed and it is your turn to jump you will board the aircraft with your Red Devils tandem instructor, once aboard you will be attached to your instructor in readiness for the jump. The aircraft will take off and climb to 13,000ft (2 1/2 miles up!), during the climb you will be able to see stunning aerial views from a unique perspective.

At exit altitude you move to the door of the aircraft and on the count of 3 jump out into freefall. For some people the next 45 seconds lasts forever, for others it is over in the blink of an eye. However it takes you, your instructor will deploy the parachute at approximately 6,000ft for the canopy ride to the ground.

Due to their very busy schedule, opportunities to jump with the Red Devils are limited to just a few days each year, and places are accordingly hard to come by. Fortunately, Smile4Wessex has again secured a small number of places for this year's programme, but you'll need to be quick to reserve your chance to take one of those spots, jumping at either Old Sarum, Nr Salisbury Wiltshire or Langar Airfield, Nottinghamshire

The cost for a Red Devil Tandem Skydive experience is £299, of which you will need to pay £100 upon booking, and if you raise a minimum of £500 in sponsorship then you won't have to pay a penny more. For an additional fee of £120, you can even have your tandem skydive experience filmed by an expert freefall cameramen (subject to availability).

There are a few restrictions to who can jump - aside from having the courage to do so - but you'll need to be no more than 6’2 in height, a maximum of 15st (for men) or 13st (for women), and a minimum of 16 years of age. If you're aged over 40 you will also need a declaration of fitness signed by your GP.

So, if you fancy joining an elite few who have jumped with the Red Devils, please email info@smile4wessex.org for further details of how to book.
